The effect of population density and other factors on the number of offspring of Myelophilus piniperda

, : The effect of population density and other factors on the number of offspring of Myelophilus piniperda. Ann. ent. fenn., Helsinki. 34: 3, 135-48

A team study carried out simultaneously in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden from 1961 to 1967 on Pine bolts in breeding cages. At population densities of up to ca. 200 females/sq.m. of surface, the number of galleries increased proportionately with number of females, and this density produced the highest number of young beetles.
