The effects of cutting and grazing techniques on productivity of grass/clover swards

, : The effects of cutting and grazing techniques on productivity of grass/clover swards. Paper presented at the 9th int. Grassld Congr., Sao Paulo, Brazil, Jan, 7. bibl. 15

The production of perennial ryegrass/white-clover swards was measured under 8 cutting regimes, and grazing by sheep. Herbage yields were increased by grazing compared with cutting, particularly when N was applied, by cutting to 1.5 in. compared with 2.5 in., and by infrequent compared with frequent cutting. The percentage of white clover was reduced by grazing and further depressed by applied N.
