The morphology, life-history, and systematic relations of the digenetic trematode, Uniserialis brevi-serialis sp.nov. (Notocotylidae), a parasite of the bursa Fabricius of birds

, : The morphology, life-history, and systematic relations of the digenetic trematode, Uniserialis brevi-serialis sp.nov. (Notocotylidae), a parasite of the bursa Fabricius of birds. Biol. Bull. mar. biol. Lab, Woods Hole, 132: 2, 266-276

Imbricata-type cercariae were recovered from Hydrobia salsa, a brackish-water prosobranch taken near Woods Hole, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Metacercariae were fed to chicks and ducklings and mature specimens of Uniserialis breviserialis n.sp. were recovered 2 weeks later in the bursa Fabricius. Rediae, cercariae, metacercariae and adults are described. U. breviserialis has 2 lateral rows of 4 glands each in addition to the median row of 5 glands.
