The net protein value of supplemented and unsupplemented strawberry yeast

, : The net protein value of supplemented and unsupplemented strawberry yeast. Philippine J. Nutrition. 19: 251-257

Adult male Sprague Dawley rats in 2 groups of 5 were adapted to test diets for several days, then depleted on a N-free diet for 7 days and refed for 10 days on test diets. The protein in the test diets was supplied by 20% dried strawberry yeast alone or with 0.4% methionine; the yeast had 49.38% crude protein (NX 6.25). True digestibility of the yeast protein, without or with methionine, was 76.3 and 77.4%, and biological value was 65.6 and 76.7. Net protein values were 23.04 and 29.12%.
