Studies on the puerperal period included haematological examination, analysis of the hormonal content of the urine, as well as observations on regression of the corpus luteum, regeneration of the ovarian cycle and involution of the uterus. The bacterial flora of the uterine contents was also studied, as well as treatment with antibiotics. Leucocyte counts were found to be highest on the first day post partum.
