The sand beetle (Opatrum sabulosum L., fam. Tenebrionidae)-its biology and control

, : The sand beetle (Opatrum sabulosum L., fam. Tenebrionidae)-its biology and control. Rast. Nauki, 2: 1, 165-171

The adult overwinters in the soil of pastures, hedges and roads at a depth of 5-10cm under stones and trees, and occasionally in arable land at 15-40cm. The adult leaves the soil when the average daily air temperature is 8.8-15.5 degrees C, the relative humidity of the air is 38-80% and the soil temperature at a depth of 5cm is 6.8-10.4 degrees C. The female enters the soil to a depth of 5-10cm to lay her eggs.
