Depressor effect of magnesium lithospermate B, a component of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix, in spontaneously hypertensive rats

, : Depressor effect of magnesium lithospermate B, a component of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix, in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Phytotherapy research: PTR 8(5): 271-275

The effects of magnesium lithospermate B on blood pressure were examined in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Systolic, mean and diastolic blood pressures were decreased after magnesium lithospermate B administration, whereas the urinary levels of kallikrein, prostaglandin E2, sodium and potassium were increased. The mechanisms of the depressor action of magnesium lithospermate B were discussed on the basis of these findings.
