A cross-sectional, community-based study was conducted to obtain preliminary data on the prevalence of intestinal microsporidial infections among Orang Asli children in Selangor, Malaysia. 271 Orang Asli children (138 boys and 133 girls, aged 2-15 years) from 8 villages provided faecal specimens for microscopic examination. Microsporidial spores were identified in faecal samples from 56 (20.7%) children.
