Occurrence of M1 aflatoxin in milk commercialized in some cities of Sao Paulo State, Brazil

, : Occurrence of M1 aflatoxin in milk commercialized in some cities of Sao Paulo State, Brazil. Arquivos do Instituto Biologico Sao Paulo 72(4): 435-438

M1 aflatoxin (AFM1) has been detected in milk from animals fed with feed contaminated by aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). This toxin is a possible carcinogenic in humans (2B class). This is a potential public health problem, because young individuals are among the greater milk consumers and are more sensitive to its effects. This study was developed to determine AFM1 in pasteurized milk from Sao Paulo, Brazil. 43 samples collected from several cities were analysed.
