Late Cambrian-Early Ordovician macrofaunas and phosphatic microfaunas, St. John Group, New Brunswick

, : Late Cambrian-Early Ordovician macrofaunas and phosphatic microfaunas, St. John Group, New Brunswick. Journal of Paleontology 54(4): 752-761

Occurrences of conodonts and associated Acado-Baltic macrofaunas (brachiopods, graptolites, trilobites) at all known Upper Cambrian through Lower Ordovician localities in the St. John Group, southern New Brunswick, are documented. Although the upper part of the latest Cambrian Acerocare Zone (Zone VI) at St. John is equivalent to all or part of the North American uppermost Cambrian Corbinia apopsis Subzone, stratigraphically long-ranging conodonts from zones I and III-Vc do not contribute to interprovincial correlation of the Upper Cambrian. Conodonts are poorly represented in the Lower Ordovician (Tremadocian and Arenigian) of the St. John Group. The stratigraphic occurrences of 5 conodont species, a presumed hyolithelminthoid and Falites pateli sp. nov., a secondarily(?) phosphatized ostracod-like crustacean that may actually be a representative of a vagrant barnacle-related group, are reported.
