Mechanism of formation of the hydrocarbon composition of gas-condensate-oil systems

, : Mechanism of formation of the hydrocarbon composition of gas-condensate-oil systems. Geochemistry International 38(3): 258-264

The article presents the results of the experiments investigating the mechanism of the formation of the hydrocarbon composition of individual phases in gas-oil mixtures. Oils of different geochemical type were dissolved in natural compressed gas under condition of decreasing temperatures (from 160 to 100 degrees C) and pressures (from 45 to 20 MPa), with the oil/gas ratio in the system varying from 1:1 to 1:5. Results of the experiments revealed the direction of the changes in the hydrocarbon composition of phases in a gas-oil system. It was established that reduction in the amount of gas in the system, other things being equal, brings about the same result as a decrease in the thermobaric conditions: the fraction composition of hydrocarbons in the gaseous phase becomes narrower; changes take place in the assortment of individual hydrocarbons due to the selectivity of their dissolution in compressed gas. As a result, there are changes in the magnitude of the hydrocarbon parameters used in the petroleum geochemistry as criteria of the maturation, biodegradation, and origin of oil.
