River system shape changes in Poznan area between 1734 and 1890, against the background of contemporary topographic maps

, : River system shape changes in Poznan area between 1734 and 1890, against the background of contemporary topographic maps. Badania Fizjograficzne nad Polska Zachodnia Seria A: Geografia Fizyczna

In the first part of the article, the issue of precision and documentary value of historical maps is raised. There is also done a general characteristic of historical maps used in the subsequent analysis of the river network. In the next part, the proposed method of verification of historical map's precision is described, as well as, the process of field-angular transformations by the warping method. Next, the general analysis of the changeability of the river network on the examined area is described along with an attempt to establish crucial factors determining the evolution of the river network. Finally, the warping method is brought under careful investigation for the need of described analysis.
