Sand body sedimentary characteristics and control factors of the middle third member of the Shahejie Formation in the Dongxin region, Shandong

, : Sand body sedimentary characteristics and control factors of the middle third member of the Shahejie Formation in the Dongxin region, Shandong. Shiyou Kantan Yu Kaifa = Petroleum Exploration and Development 24(5): 38-41

In the middle 3rd member of the Shahejie Formation, a series of fan turbidites, originating from sediment slumps in a delta front, developed in the Dongxin region. They are located in the delta-front and prodelta facies of Dongying Delta, eastern Dongying Depression. Based on the characteristics of well-developed deformation structure and less-developed grain grading and Bouma sequence, the sand bodies are classified as slumped turbidites resulting from detrital flows. The development characteristics of sand bodies are determined by the paleotopography of the basin deposited. The small sags provided stable channels for detrital and turbidity flows, which were beneficial to the accumulation and superposition of sediments, so large sand bodies formed there.
