The Prebetic autochthonous formations northeast of Caravaca (Murcia, Spain) are overthrust by the intermediate Puerta unit, over which Subbetic units are thrust. A northern and a southern Subbetic unit are distinguished. The former is characterized by a Triassic core, calcareous Jurassic strata, and marly Cretaceous and Nummulitic deposits; the latter comprises middle and upper Jurassic, marly Cretaceous, and calcareous Nummulitic deposits.
