Sulfides in pyrope peridotites from the kimberlites of Yakutia

, : Sulfides in pyrope peridotites from the kimberlites of Yakutia. Zapiski Vsesoyuznogo Mineralogicheskogo Obshchestva 96(4): 450-453

Sulfide minerals occur in some pyrope-bearing ultrabasic xenoliths in the 'Obnazhennaya' kimberlite pipe (Yakutia, USSR). The sulfides form aggregates in which chalcopyrite surrounds a nucleus of pentlandite. The pentlandite contains inclusions of valleriite? and, possibly, exsolved chalcopyrite. Chalcopyrite is also found in the enclosing rock in the form of small veins. Pyrite occurs as irregular angular grains and less commonly as idiomorphic metacrysts less than 0.01 mm across. It never occurs with the chalcopyrite and pentlandite, which, unlike the pyrite, formed at high temperature.
