Voprosy genezisa medistykh peschanikov severnoi Kirgizii i tsentralnogo Kazakhstana

, : Voprosy genezisa medistykh peschanikov severnoi Kirgizii i tsentralnogo Kazakhstana. Akad Nauk Kirgiz

General discussion of redbed copper deposits, based mainly on occurrences in central Kazakhstan and northern Kirgiz, with passing reference to others in the USSR and elsewhere. It is argued that all such deposits were originally sedimentary, though most have been modified by later diagenesis and metamorphism. Deposits are strictly confined to redbed formations (some with salt and gypsum), are not localized on definite tectonic features, and have no demonstrable relation to intrusive rocks. At Dzhezkazgan, some beds below the ore zone are similar to so-called impermeable capping above, and show no sign of passage of solutions; vertical zoning of Cu, Pb, and Zn, as in Kupferschiefer beds, is developed locally; and intraformational conglomerate contains ore-bearing pebbles and rounded grains of sulfide.
