Etude des ecosystemes Guyanais 3. - Acridomorpha dendrophiles (Orthoptera Caelifera)

, : Etude des ecosystemes Guyanais 3. - Acridomorpha dendrophiles (Orthoptera Caelifera). Annales de la Societe Entomologique de France, 143: 301-349

Specimens of Acridomorpha living in the crowns of trees 20-50 m above ground level were studied in French Guyana (March-April 1976 and July-Oct. 1977). A total of 788 specimens were collected, consisting of 44 genera, 57 spp. and 3 dendrophilous sspp. New taxa (20 genera, 36 spp., 3 sspp.) were found in 2 visits. The 32 new taxa collected during the 2nd visit are described. Two genera and 6 spp. not restricted to Guyana but belonging to groups that necessitated a complete revision are also described. Genera from Guyana are classified into 4 main groups according to their distribution, i.e., genera occurring in Central America, the Amazon basin and Guyana (13.9%); genera occurring in the Amazon basin and Guyana (30.2%); genera restricted to Guyana or Amazon-Guyana but entering the western sector of the Amazon basin (9.3%) and genera solely restricted to Guyana or Amazon-Guyana (44.1%). The epiphyllic laying behavior of Euprepacris charpentieri is described and biological data are provided for most species. New taxa are: APRIONACRIS fissicauda gen. et sp. nov. (type species), EUROSTACRIS corporosa gen. et sp. nov., Lophacris picticrus sp. nov., Prionacris rubripennis sp. nov., P. viridipennis sp. nov., HYLEPHILACRIS magnicornis gen. et sp. nov. (type species), Ophthalmolampis placita albosignata ssp. nov., O. p. nigromaculata ssp. nov., POECILOLAMPIS saltatrix gen. et sp. nov. (type species), ANANOTACRIS abditicolor gen. et sp. nov. (type species), ODONTONOTACRIS mimetica gen. et sp. nov. (type species), Oulenotacris arboricola sp. nov., SCIPONACRIS trichilae gen. et sp. nov. (type species), SYNTOMACRELLA guyanensis gen. et comb., nov. (type species Syntomacris guyanensis), Syntomacrella guyanensis obscura ssp. nov., Syntomacris nigripes sp. nov., HYLESCIRTACRIS calamitosa gen. et sp. nov. (type species), Callistacris aratayensis sp. nov., Adelotettix inornatus sp. nov., DORSTACRIS rubripennis gen. et sp. nov. (type species), Copiocera cyanoptera sp. nov.
