Infeccao em teleoginas de Boophilus microplus (Acari: Ixodidae): 2. Histopatologia e testes in vitro

, : Infeccao em teleoginas de Boophilus microplus (Acari: Ixodidae): 2. Histopatologia e testes in vitro. Arquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinaria e Zootecnia, 431: 31-37

Boophilus microplus engorged females were dissected, the last part of the genital system being removed. Serial sections of the vagina were cut at a thickness of 6 .mu.m in the transverse plane. In healthy females, columnar cells with a basal nucleus form the vaginal epithelium, which is destroyed in the sick ones. Engorged females of Boophilus microplus were divided into groups of 5g and immersed in Cedecea lapagei suspension, glycerin saline and distilled water. The groups immersed in C. lapagei suspension presented a mean egg weight of 1.39 g, those ones immersed in glycerin saline 2.36 g, and in distilled water 2.64g.
