Mollusken im Landschaftsschutzgebiet Tiergarten bei Colditz (Sachsen)

, : Mollusken im Landschaftsschutzgebiet Tiergarten bei Colditz (Sachsen). Malakologische Abhandlungen (Dresden). 1 September; 171: 99-114

In 1987, 1988 and 1990 the small valley "Tiergarten" that in the north of the Colditz castle hill opens to the valley of the river Zwickauer Mulde was searched for mollusca. Because of the acid rocks that form the slopes, land snails only were to be met where loess was washed down from the plateau, especially on the bottom of the valley, provided it has not been disturbed. 39 species of land snails were found. Only one of them (Cepaea hortensis) must be considered to be a newcomer, as it only occurs on the lowest end near an old garden colony. The snail fauna belongs to a more or less moist woodland. But as there were several human disturbances, snail fauna is diminished. Collecting places with ten and more species together are rare already. Only two of the commonest snails, Aegopinella nitidula and Perforatella incarnata, can be called as euconstant with 40 places (80%). But 30 species have been found accidentally, i.e. found on less than 25% of the places. In the water bodies Pisidium species probably are endemic, but by pollution they are extinct in the brook and its small tributaries coming from arable land. They survive only in small water bodies and marshy spots, but 5 Pisidium species have been met. Water snails (3 species of Lymnaeidae and 2 species of Planorbidae) are occasionally introduced, but did not spread. A curiosity still may be mentioned: On the right slope called "Schlobachs Berg" separated from the Tiergarten by an old and extended garden colony, in a small herb growth another relictary woodland fauna was found with Helicodonta obvoluta. This species was not found in the Tiergarten, there it was replaced by Isognomostoma isognomostoma. This fact shows that both areas have been separated for a rather long time.
