Boloria eunomia (Esper, 1799): a new species for Serbia (Nymphalidae)

, : Boloria eunomia (Esper, 1799): a new species for Serbia (Nymphalidae). Nota Lepidopterologica 30(1): 65-70

The discovery of the butterfly Boloria eunomia (Esper, 1799) on Mount Stara Planina in Serbia is described. This is the first record of this species for Serbia. The morphology is compared with that of the similar Boloria rhodopensis Slivov, 1995. The phytocenology of the habitat is portrayed and the distribution of the species on the Balkan Peninsula analysed. The degree of habitat endangerment for this species is discussed, and a proposal for the status of this species is given.
