Ecology of the microbiota of San Diego Bay, California

, : Ecology of the microbiota of San Diego Bay, California. Trans San Diego Soc Nat Hist 14(2): 9-40

Qualitative and quantitative determinations of certain sulfur bacteria, algae and protozoa were made weekly at seven stations in the Bay and a control station eight miles distant. Over 100 samples of plankton and benthos were examined, the latter being secured by divers. More than 290 genera and species were recorded. The objective was to determine effects of bay pollution on microbiota and any relation of effects to keep beds athwart the harbor entrance.
