Fiji disease virus

, : Fiji disease virus. Characterization, diagnosis and management of plant viruses Volume 1: industrial crops: 169-182

Fiji disease virus, causal agent of Fiji disease, is one of the most important pathogens of sugarcane worldwide. The epidemics of Fiji disease in Australia and elsewhere of this pathogen highlight the significant cost to both the production of sugarcane and breeding programs of this pathogen. The entire genomic sequence of Fiji disease virus has recently been published. FDV is the type species of the genus Fijivirus in the family Reoviridae, and is the only member of Fijivirus subgroup 1.
