Preliminary study on biological characters of Tetrastichus incertus (Ratzeburg), a parasite of the alfalfa weevi

, : Preliminary study on biological characters of Tetrastichus incertus (Ratzeburg), a parasite of the alfalfa weevi. Xinjiang Nongye Daxue Xuebao ch; 29(1): 3

Tetrastichus incertus (Ratzeburg) is a endoparasite of larvae of the alfalfa weevil, Hypera postica (Gyllenhal). The preliminarily study was made on the characters of morphology, development, eclosion, mating, oviposition and overwintering of T. incertus. The results demonstrated that when the larvae of T. incertus were the 3rd instar, their hosts parasitized had already died, adult emergence was ranged from 1 to 14 host, average was 7.43, eclosion percentage was about 83.33%; peak-hour of adult eclosion was 8.12 o'clock, in addition to T. incertus overwinters as mature larvae within host. In early spring the emergence rates of adult overwintered in laboratory and in field were 83.9% and 40. 4% respectively.
