Preliminary study on the migration of passerine in autumn in Laotieshan Mountain, Liaoning

, : Preliminary study on the migration of passerine in autumn in Laotieshan Mountain, Liaoning. Chinese Journal of Zoology: 74-79

Migration of passerine birds was studied based on the data of direct observation and bird handing during autumn of 2000 to 2004 in the Laotieshan Mountain Reserve, Liaoning Province. Total of 11 040 birds were banded, among them 8 species were recorded first time in the study area. The migration peak appeared in the middle and later October. Daily minimum temperature and wind condition were closely related to species and amount of the birds passing through the study area. The species dominated and amount of migration birds varied each year. During the five year, insectivorous bird came earlier than granivorous. The birds migrated in group and the size of group varied with species. The number of species and amount of migration birds was least in 2004 during the study period.
