Rectorite is a clay mineral that has a unique structural composition. It not only has the same properties as montmorillonite, such as action exchangeability, expansibility after water absorption, and high colloidal properties, but also has the same properties as mica, such as high heat-resistance and glossiness, etc. After purification and modification by organic actions, the rectorite becomes a good thickening agent that has high expansibility and dispersibility in oil. The temperature of the first drop of oil of lubricating grease that uses organic rectorite as the thickening agent is >633.15 degrees K, which is higher than the index of bentonite grease. This means that rectorite is a good material for the preparation of the thickening agent of lubricating grease and is a new high heat-resistance lubricating grease.
