Preliminary study on the wheat mite, Penthaleus sp. in Yahan, Szechwan

, : Preliminary study on the wheat mite, Penthaleus sp. in Yahan, Szechwan. Acta Ent Sinica 9(2): 125-136

From 1953-55 the wheat mite was observed in Yahan, It had 3 complete overlapping generations per year. Its egg period passed over the long summer season, with no hibernation in winter. The host plants included 23 species of 10 families. Its development and activity varied greatly with environmental conditions. Field experiments and extension control proved that the most effective control was given by 6% [gamma] 666 (lindane) at a dilution of 1:400.
