Premier cas de nidification du Balbuzard pecheur Pandion haliaetus en Ile-de-France

, : Premier cas de nidification du Balbuzard pecheur Pandion haliaetus en Ile-de-France. Ornithos s-Avril; 13(2): 124-127

In 2005 a pair of Ospreys successfully bred in the Paris region, rearing 3 young. The species had been recorded annually in the breeding season on this site from 2002, when a pair partially built a nest. Two artificial nests were installed on pine trees, and one was used by the pair (a 6 year-old male ringed in Germany and a 4 year-old female ringed in the foret d'Orleans, central France). This is the first ever breeding record of Osprey in the Paris region. It is related to the expansion of the species in central France where 20 pairs bred in 2004 (15 in foret d'Orleans and 5 in Sologne).
