A preliminary report based on the results of the 3 voyages of the R.R.S. Shackleton and one voyage of the R.R.S. John Biscoe between Southampton, England, and British Antarctic Survey bases in the Antarctic. The majority of the 3417 specimens captured were Hemiptera (2006), Diptera (1006), Lepidoptera (76), and Hymenoptera (68).
