A simple method to differentiate Mycobacterium avium from non-photochromogens by the effect of ultraviolet irradiation on acid-fastness

, : A simple method to differentiate Mycobacterium avium from non-photochromogens by the effect of ultraviolet irradiation on acid-fastness. Jap J Bacteriol 20(10): 594-598

A simple method for differentiating M. avium from nonphotochromogens was devised. When smear preparations of bacilli were irradiated by UV rays and tested for the loss of acidfastness, cells of M. avium showed much slower loss than the nonphotochromogens.
