Beobachtungen iiber die Entwicklung verschiedener Arten von Fischschmarotzern aus der Gattung Dactylogyrus

, : Beobachtungen iiber die Entwicklung verschiedener Arten von Fischschmarotzern aus der Gattung Dactylogyrus. Zeitschr Parasitenk 11(5): 611-636

D. vastator is found on the gills of carps only in July. It produces on an average 18 eggs, whereas D. anchoratus lays 4-8 and D. macracanthus again 18 eggs. The eggs of the various spp. are characterized by the different closing apparatus, frequent malformations of which make specific detns. in many cases difficult. The larvae of D.v. hatch at 23[degree]C in 2.5 days, those of D.m. in 5 days and those of D.a. in 5.5 days. The larva fixes itself anywhere on the body of the host, it loses the cilia and wanders finally to the gills where it becomes sexually mature. The entire life cycle from the egg to the death of the adult lasts only 10-12 days. D.v. persists during the cold season by forming winter-eggs (Dauereier). Their formation is, however, not induced by low temp., but each worm forms during its life some such resisting eggs regardless of the prevailing temp.
