The hemo-bactericidal power in a subject injected with nitrogen compounds or sulfamides is increased when the citrated blood is kept at room temp. for 24 hrs. This hemobacteri-oidal power becomes still more evident by adding azoic-bodies like rubiazol or vaccines. This fact demonstrates the epiphylactic capacity of blood in vitro and also clearly points out that the properties of blood regarding transfusion remain unchanged and that the phylactic qualities of preserved blood can be increased. This behavior is important for transfusions with preserved blood, for immuno-and chemical cataphylacto-transfusions.
