Effect of nitrogen and chloride nutrition on susceptibility and effect of fungicide applications on control of Fusi-coccum canker of peach

, : Effect of nitrogen and chloride nutrition on susceptibility and effect of fungicide applications on control of Fusi-coccum canker of peach. Phytopathology 57(12): 1344-1346

Susceptibility of peach trees to infection by Fusicoccum amygdali was not influenced by 3 levels of N nutrition. A high Cl level, however, resulted in an increased incidence of nodal cankers. Of the many fungicides tested, only the organo mercurials (methyl mercury 8-hydroxyquinolinate and methylmercury dicyandiamide), used on a 10-or 20-day schedule, or Bordeaux mixture-lead arsenate, used on a 10-day schedule during the leaf-dropping period, provided highly significant protection against leaf scar infections. In the spring, one application of Bordeaux mixture-lead arsenate during the late dormant period and a 2nd application during the delayed dormant period provided highly significant protection against infections occurring through damaged buds and bud scale scars.
