Effect of rice-polishing concentrate on the faecal excretion of cholesterol-fed albino rats

, : Effect of rice-polishing concentrate on the faecal excretion of cholesterol-fed albino rats. Sci Cult 32(2): 85-86

Animals receiving rice polishing concentrate along with cholesterol containing basal diet excretes large amounts of cholesterol in the feces. This concentrate also lowers the cholesterol content of the liver of animals receiving high cholesterol diet. This increased excretion of cholesterol may be due to the reduced absorption of diet cholesterol from the intestine. The cholesterol lowering effect of this concentrate in the liver may be explained by impaired absorption and increased degradation of cholesterol to bile acids.
