Jap Jour Gastro Cntcrol 8(2): 859-860

Because others had reported that sugar, salt, and peptone are absorbed better when dissolved in alcohol, the author attempted to determine its effect on the absorption of dyes. The dif-fusibility of the dyes in agar or gelatin was not increased by the addition of 10% alcohol. Likewise, the absorption of the dyes by the stomach was not increased by the addition of alcohol.
