Enzymes of the guinea-pig lung

, : Enzymes of the guinea-pig lung. Enzymologia 21: 337-344

Normal guinea pig lung was used. The respiratory quotient (QO2) was estimated by the direct method of Warburg, using slices of nearly 0.2 to 0.5 mm thickness. Enzymes like succinic dehydrogenase, lactic dehydrogenase, malic dehydrogenase, cytochrome oxidase, fumarase, adenosine triphosphatase and transaminase were quantitatively estimated. The activities of most of the enzymes under study were very low in lung tissue. Unlike other enzymes, the adenosine triphosphatase content of lung tissue was quite high.
