Fatigue fractures of the lower extremities

, : Fatigue fractures of the lower extremities. Acta Orthopaed Scand 29(2): 43-48

There is a short history of the discovery and incidence of fatigue fractures in Norway in general and the Oslo Military Hospital in particular. A case of bilateral fatigue fracture of the femoral neck is then described and illustrated with roentgenograms. There is also a brief discussion and a roentgenogram of a fatigue fracture of the fibia. The study is based on fatigue fractures of the lower extremities, 16 being from the metatarsal bones, 4 from the tibia, and 1 from the neck of the femur. There is a bibliography of 6 references.
