Field study of broiler condemnation losses

, : Field study of broiler condemnation losses. Georgia Agric Exptl Sta Mineogr Ser 113: 1-10

Three surveys involving 3,618,750 broilers were conducted during the period from February, 1960 through September, 1960. The results show that respiratory diseases, directly affect the condemnation rates of broilers. The respiratiory diseases, in their order of importance, are; chronic respiratory disease (CRD) (PPLO infection), infectious bronchitis, and Newcastle disease. With CRD, infectious bronchitis and/or Newcastle disease usually was concomitant. Vaccination procedures did not dependably control the effects of these diseases. The combination of adverse environmental (management and weather conditions with the presence of disease resulted in the highest condemnation.
