Hysterical convergence spasm

, : Hysterical convergence spasm. Arch Ophthalmol 27(2): 361-365

Ocular manifestations of hysteria are discussed briefly. Hysterical convergence spasm is discussed in some detail. This condition represents an excess of convergence usually associated with comparable excess of accommodation which becomes pathological due to its duration and severity in susceptible, psychoneurotic patients. The possibility of precipitating the syndrome with orthoptic training exercises is proposed. A case report is presented.
