Importance of silicate fertilization for citrus, tung, and legumes

, : Importance of silicate fertilization for citrus, tung, and legumes. SOVETSKIE SUBTRoPIKI [SOVIET SUBTROPICS] (5): 38-43

On a degraded soil high in the sesquioxides and active Al, 5-yr.-old tung plots receiving NPK + slag produced 2.2-5 kg. fruits per tree, while the NPK, NPK Ca, and the unfertilized controls gave 0-0.17 kg. Mandarins also responded favorably to silicates and the size of lemons was improved. More vigorous root systems with a larger number of the nodules were developed by the legumes.
