Members of tropical fungal genera unkown in the USSR as relicts of the Tertiary flora of the Crimea

, : Members of tropical fungal genera unkown in the USSR as relicts of the Tertiary flora of the Crimea. Vestnik Leningr Univ No 21 Ser Biol 4: 51-63

The geographic characteristics of the fungi found in the Crimea confirm the idea expressed in the introduction as to the tropical connections of the following genera: Leptothyrium Kunze et Schm., Actinothyrium Kunze, Asterina Lev., Asteridium Sacc., Asterella Sacc, and Sirothyriella Hohnel. A com-parison of the data in this study with an analysis of the vascular flora of the Crimea and its geologic history, leads to the conclusion that the penetration of fungi in the Crimea already had taken place in the Paleo-gene, later on during the Neogene, and all through the Quaternary period up to the present time.
