Notes on the sulfanil-amidopurines

, : Notes on the sulfanil-amidopurines. Svensk Kemisk Tidskr 53: 457-459

The synthesis of 6-sulfanilamidopurine (I) is descr. Like pyridine, thiazole, and pyrimidine, which are known to give highly antibacterial sulfanilamides, the purine is a component of biol. systems, e.g., co-enzymes. However, I shows only a slight bacteriostatic effect in vitro against type I and III pneumococci and Escherichia coli. The expts. are being continued with other purine derivatives.
