Nucleic acid metabolism in polytene chromosomes and the problem of differentiation

, : Nucleic acid metabolism in polytene chromosomes and the problem of differentiation. Brookhaven Symp Biol 18: 222-241

The synthesis of nucleic acid was studied in polytene chromosomes of several tissues of Rhvnchosciara angelae. Special emphasis was given to the production and the possible meaning of metabolic DNA in this fly and in other organisms where it occurs. The problem of chromosomal and nuclear differentiation in normal and abnormal development is discussed.
