Object Relations Of The Acute Schizophrenic Patient In The Transference Situation

, : Object Relations Of The Acute Schizophrenic Patient In The Transference Situation. Psychiatric Research Reports 19: 59-79

Projective identification leads to constant fear of confusion with the analyst and to fear of retaliation; the voyeuristic ominiscience of the patient gives the process of projection into the analyst its delusional quality. The schizophrenic process often completely imprisons the object-seeking baby and saner parts of the self, and in the analytic transference the analyst has a double task of receiving the projection of the delusional system and helping the infantile imprisoned parts of the patient to disentangle themselves from the delusional object and form at first a primitive object relationship to the analyst as the part object, namely the breast.
