On some new or little known Chrysophyceae

, : On some new or little known Chrysophyceae. New Phytol 55(3): 331-338

Describes a number of chrysophycean algae found in the silt of 2 London ponds. These include a new species of Chrysoamphitrema, C. pearsallii, in which the lorica always has 2 pores, C. brunnea Scherffel, Stephanoporos epiphyticus (Scherffel) Pascher, Eleutheropyxis intermedia, with a smooth or finely punctate lorica and a single chromatophore, and a form of this sp. of much larger size which is named forma major. Descriptions are also given of a sp. of Eleutheropyxis referred to E. fulva Scherffel, a Lagynion, reffered to L. macrotrachelum (Stokes) Pascher, a small Rhizochrysis, referred to R. scherffellii Pascher, and of a remarkably variable species of Ochromonas in which individuals were observed with 1, 2, and, more rarely, 3 flagella, and others which were amoeboid and flagellated; this Ochromonas closely resembled O. mutabilis Klebs. except for its single chromatophore.
