On the nasal region of the chondrocranium of the Cape hare, Lepus capensis

, : On the nasal region of the chondrocranium of the Cape hare, Lepus capensis. Ann Transvaal Mus 21(3): 222-233

The study, based on a 46 mm. embryo, reveals that the lamina transversalis anterior does not fuse with the nasal septum. The medial portion of the posterior transverse lamina becomes detached from the main portion, continues forward, and partially fuses with the vomer. Well in advance of the nasopalatine duct, the organ of Jacobson opens on the floor of the nasal cavity, where a very rudimentary palatine cartilage is present.
