A review of the 12 described spp., with tabular comparison of dimensions of 6 spp. regarded as probably valid. Proleptus africanus (Spiropterina ajricana v. Lins.) ; P. robustus (Coronilla robusta v. Ben.), re-descr. from Raja clavata, also found in Mustelus laevis at Plymouth, England; P. australis (p.330), Flinders Is., N. Queensland, in intestine of Galeocerdo tigrinus; P. tortus v. Lins. may be a Physaloptera; P. gordioides v. Ben. is probably a Philometra.
