Pathologische Anatomie des Hirnparenchyms in der Involutionsperi-ode

, : Pathologische Anatomie des Hirnparenchyms in der Involutionsperi-ode. Psychiatr En Neurol Bladen (5): 423-436

The author recognizes the following 4 groups Uncomplicated involution with markedly slow cell atrophy. Dementia senilis with more rapid degeneration. Marinesco-Redlich-Alzheimer's disease, in which plaques and fibril degeneration, and convolutional atrophy, are observed; in these processes a substance foreign to the brain tissue plays a role which mobilizes the microglia; this substance appears to be a double refractive fatty acid, having in part a distinct relationship to the corpora amylacea. Pick's disease, where the process is diffuse but localized especially in the frontal and temporal lobes and the island of Reil; the glia response is as in the other 3 involutions.
