Preliminary report of an informal cooperative study of rest in the Latham raspberry

, : Preliminary report of an informal cooperative study of rest in the Latham raspberry. Proc Amer Soc Hort Sci 51: 316-318

Rest behavior was far from uniform, as shown by data contributed by workers from 7 stations extending from Illinois to Alberta. Length of growing season appeared to have little effect upon rest. Intensity varied widely, but onset and decline were much alike. Rest was broken earlier in Minnesota and Manitoba than in Iowa and Saskatchewan. At 3 stations intensity increased markedly after decline was well under way. Some samples collected in Sept. or early Oct. failed to show bud activity at any time in the greenhouse although the canes remained in good condition.
