Stimulation of soil micro-organisms by antibiotics

, : Stimulation of soil micro-organisms by antibiotics. Antibiotics & ChemoTherapy 5(2): 96-100

The results suggest that a number of microbial soil factors may possibly be involved in plant growth stimulation by antibiotics. Total microbial populations and nodulation of sweet clover were increased by certain antibiotics. Thiolutin (25 ppm) induced a total population of 167 million per g; water alone produced 48 million. Bacitracin induced nine nodules per plant against two per plant for the water treatment.
