Survival of Phytophthora infestans on infected tubers in cold storages in the plains of India

, : Survival of Phytophthora infestans on infected tubers in cold storages in the plains of India. Indian Potato J 5(1): 48-51

Studies in 1958-1962 on over-summering of the late blight pathogen (P. infestans) in cold storage showed that the pathogen can be carried in mildly infected tubers. Although only a very small proportion of infected tubers developed into plants next season, the foci of infection which developed on a few isolated plants were enough to cause fresh outbreaks of diseases under favorable weather conditions.
